Sex Workers & PayPal

Recently I put up a post in a facebook group as a little "how to" for the women that absolutely insist on using paypal and I have not had the warmest welcome, with many women pointing out that paypal regularly shuts down the accounts of sex workers.

As we all know, it goes against the paypal policies for sex workers and adult entertainers to use their services for their work. So I went to the paypal policy page and the following is straight from their user agreement. I have highlighted the two activities that are most pertinent to sex workers and adult entertainers.

"Prohibited Activities
You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:
  1. violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation.
  2. relate to transactions involving (a) narcotics, steroids, certain controlled substances or other products that present a risk to consumer safety, (b) drug paraphernalia, (c) cigarettes, (d) items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity, (e) stolen goods including digital and virtual goods, (f) the promotion of hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime, (g) items that are considered obscene, (h) items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction, (i) certain sexually oriented materials or services, (j) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories, or (k) certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law.
  3. relate to transactions that (a) show the personal information of third parties in violation of applicable law, (b) support pyramid or ponzi schemes, matrix programs, other "get rich quick" schemes or certain multi-level marketing programs, (c) are associated with purchases of annuities or lottery contracts, lay-away systems, off-shore banking or transactions to finance or refinance debts funded by a credit card, (d) are for the sale of certain items before the seller has control or possession of the item, (e) are by payment processors to collect payments on behalf of merchants, (f) are associated with the sale of traveler’s checks or money orders, (g) involve currency exchanges or check cashing businesses, (h) involve certain credit repair, debt settlement services, credit transactions or insurance activities, or (i) involve offering or receiving payments for the purpose of bribery or corruption.
  4. involve the sales of products or services identified by government agencies to have a high likelihood of being fraudulent."

As you can see it goes against the user agreement to use paypal for "items that are considered obscene" and "certain sexually oriented materials or services" which is absolutely the most vague way of putting things.

In other words, as a sex worker you might be able to use paypal or you might not be able to, it really depends on if paypal thinks that you are selling anything obscene like pornography or if they believe you are selling live cam shows, phone sex or escorting services through paypal.

Now I personally have been using paypal for many years, not only as a sex worker but also as a business owner and I have not had any problems, even when I receive large tributes through my donation link. Many women have told me that I will get shut down, that I will have problems, that it is only a matter of time before paypal hits me too.
I tend to disagree with those statements, not because I am naive or think that I am "better than the rest", but because I do things a bit different than most in regards to my use of paypal for tributes.

So what exactly do I do so differently you might ask, well for starters I do not actually sell anything in my findom/femdom lifestyle using paypal. I keep my sales to sites specifically designed for those things, like clip sites, ebanned and others. I never accept paypal for used items such as panties or socks, I never accept paypal for nudes or videos or even sessions.
I will accept tributes, only through my donation link, and I will refund every "donation" I receive that request things such as sessions, custom videos or nudes.
I also use the same donation link for tributes that I use on my gaming stream and right here on my blog instead of having separate links for my stream, blog and tributes.
My link is used under my company name ProT3K Network with a "purpose: Queen Mea" underneath, and the billing shows as either ProT3K Network or PTN on credit card statements.

I receive donations quite a bit, but not all are tributes from findom, many of them are donations to my blog or donations for my stream, as people enjoy what I do and wish to contribute towards my work. Obviously I do get findom tributes as well but to be honest, I will get back to whoever sent the tributes initially and have them send interac etransfers for every tribute afterwards, so I rarely have repeat donations.

Lastly, I would like to advise that every sex worker use any other service aside from paypal to accept tributes and sell content. As easy as paypal can be, it can be very risky for sex workers to use, especially those who do not have legitimate businesses that are not connected to the sex industry.

If however, you are one of the girls who absolutely insists on using paypal, I would suggest taking a few precautions to help yourself not get shut down as quickly as others have, like keeping the transactions solely to tributes, not selling anything that is related to sex work and setting up a donation button. Even if you do take precautions there is still a possibility of paypal shutting you down, especially if you place a link on a sex related site that does sell items and services for sex work or adult entertainment of any kind.

There are a ton of other ways to accept tributes and sell items as a sex worker that you really don't need to be using paypal at all and I would highly suggest that you read through the user agreements and terms of service on any payment site that you choose to use in order to protect yourself from loosing any money that you make.
